Spring is opening its wings and I have already caught myself gazing at the new shoe collections.
The shop windows are filled with various peep-toe pumps, flats and high-heels in pale shades of the rainbow, nearly all with matching handbags, a trend which will be dominant and really IN this season. Nevertheless, I was on my iPad when at the click of a key, my eyes sparkled at a pair of metallic knee-high strapped gladiator-like sandals and my heart raced at the sight of a black over-the-ankle creation combined with a gold engraved plate.
Ancient Greek Sandals is a brand obviously inspired by the Ancient Greek culture and their shoes seem to provide great comfort. The luxurious leather embraces the foot and the leg with elegance, while the funky fluo versions of the Hermes-inspired sandals attribute a lighter, playful look.
Sandals have been worn by Greek men and women since antiquity and nowadays they have become true fashion items. They are worn with morning and evening dresses, shorts, as well as pants all spring and summer long. So, even if you are doubting - take it from a fashion freak who does not yet compromise her comfort - do not hesitate to adopt them or at least give them a go. The look is surely not old-fashioned, quirky or eccentric. In the Mediterranean you would blend in. And in the rest of the world, you would simply be a stylish trend-setter.
For those lucky enough to be traveling to Athens this year, I recommend a visit to this little temple of luxury.
