Once in a blue moon a special design stirs things up in the watchmaking world.
Phase de Lune by Lebeau Courally was revealed to me on the mystifying gloomy afternoon of March 20, 2015. The total solar eclipse was in full progress as the new watch model suddenly appeared on my glowing Facebook screen.
My eclipse-inspired thoughts of galaxies and far away cosmoses instinctively evoked a more romantic perception of the device. It instantly became much more than a single-function time-telling medium. What began in its primitive form as a solar clock, has now evolved into a flawless tracking mechanism of the most mysterious and awe-inspiring celestial object. Nowadays time does not only revolve round the sun, but also round the maker of the night. There is nothing more romantic than promising the moon. There is nothing more intriguing than the dark side of the moon. The dark night inspires dreams, secrets and intense sensations we do not experience in the light of day.
I can say with certainty that if designer Fabien Lamarche ever decides to place a Phase de Lune on female wrists, I would definitely be over the moon!
