Summertime in Belgium is the season when nature is at its best. And since we do not expect unbearably high temperatures here, the sun is friendly enough to grant us the joy of mix-matching Summer with Spring/Fall elements and wardrobe items.
Color is entering the new season and that is nothing but subtle. The trend that caught my eye is this aquarelle-like ink perfusion into light, luxurious fabrics, drawing on the bohemian florals of the previous season but giving them an impressionistic romantic feel. Pastels gain a new substance with a gray/lavender undertone, and yellow prevails as the new black.
Were you at the Evangelatou & La Greca Blog fashion show at the Zoute Grand Prix weekend? No worries, you will soon hear more from us...
Modern Greek music beats and positive vibes as always.
Thank you, restaurant Elia in Sluis , for the tasty fingerfood.
All La Greca Blog clothes and accessories in the pictures are available at
EVANGELATOU store (85 Dumortierlaan Knokke).
Enjoy the pics by talented Desiree Zwanenburg:
You can find anything in Knokke. After having tasted life here for almost a decade, I have already embraced that notion and have grown quite fond of it. But even I can still be astounded. The grandiose Parthenon inevitably was the eye-catcher that forced my head to turn twice towards the window of a new clothes boutique on the busy main shopping street. Was it a Greek brand? The allusion to my homeland somehow touched a string and I had to unveil the story behind the brand “Myrine”, the name alluding to the first queen of the legendary Greek warrior tribe the “Amazons”.
Despite the fact that my do-not-disturb switch was well on during my July break, which I exclusively spent in Greece, my designer-hunt mode was far from deactivated. When it comes to the blog, I am officially a workaholic! I discovered there is more of "Tutu Chic" beyond the Belgian borders. On the plane home I could not wait to share my accidentally tripping in love with the color, vibe and light of the store "Natalie " at the waterfront of Nikiti in exotic Halkidiki.
85 Dumortierlaan in Knokke hosts a pop-up store where positive energy overflows even outside the strict limits of the doorway. This summer Greek/Belgian Chantal Vangelatos, owner and designer of the natural fabric garment collections "EVANGELATOU" has paired with several designers, as well as La Greca Blog, to bring a breeze of Greece to the Northern seas.
Last weekend wine and fingerfood were offered to our guests and customers, kind courtesy of "The Olive Tree" in Bruges - highly recommended, as it is one of the few non-touristic, authentic places in the region that combine fresh Greek cuisine and candle-lit atmosphere.
Along with the pure, ethereal designs by Evangelatou, at the store you can find the "Christina Malle Bags" and "It's All Greek on Me" clutches, shawls and kaftans, all chosen by me with love for elegant and exceptional style.
Visit us every Saturday and Sunday in summer 2017 and let us speak our stories...
If you still consider the mix-and-deliberately-unmatched prints of Roberto Cavalli as number one in unconventional eye-catchers, if you think that only Pucci is the master of colorful geometric patterning, you have not yet experienced PINKO.
These Italian designer clothes and accessories combine flair, girliness, femininity, and the right drops of daring cross-over attitude and edginess. Who would have thought that our popular Coca-Cola would become a jeweled logo on a fire red laced see-through sweater with boyfriend sleeves and striped, tracksuit-like elastic bands flowing down the arms? Andy Warhol's perception of pop culture met vintage lace as it sprang into couture last winter with the capsule Coca-Cola collection, which has sold extremely well in Knokke. "Knokke is a special market and it is ready for the Coca-Cola collection" confirmed store manager Florine upon arrival of the new store items. She was confident and quite justifiably, as proven in the course of the last few months.
For two days in February 2017 in the grand suite of Lebeau Hotel in Zoute, Saint Crispin's offered an exclusive insight into the newest models and production possibilities. By appointment limited guests could delve into shoes of high-end design and quality, as well as private service. Mr. Car, owner of the luxurious brand, was there to enlighten us and help us choose our perfect fit.
As for my experience, I learned again something new about how SC can innovate. The laces of the brand are always longer than normal and should be tied in double knots all the way. This way, you can never trip and fall. Furthermore, the production is made from scratch, so every single shoe is unique and made-to-order for a specific client who makes his or her own material, color and texture combination choices. What is impressive is that the creation process lasts maximum 8 weeks.
Towards the end of the opening evening, it was time for my...treat. I felt the effortless sliding of my heel and the soft embrace around my midfoot of the pair I had spotted. I took a few steps, and some flirting with the camera lens led me to the conclusion: Yes, you can still be a lady walking in men's shoes. Only a more unconventionally fun one!
Enjoy a ride to the world of handmade, made-to-measure shoes!

"Till death do us part". Despite my affection for shoe couture I had never thought this could be vowed to a shoe, until I met Cedric. We like to follow trends - some of us even set them for a season or two - so shoes have become somewhat expendable items. Could a fashionista be faithful to a pair of pumps for more than a decade, or - an even more plausible question - wouldn't this pair of danced-the-night-away heels betray her one day? Sure, after a million steps the sole will be worn-out, the heel scratched and the color faded. The same goes for men’s footwear. Can then a shoe be more than a summer fling?
It was a couple of years ago on a lazy summer afternoon when under the protective veil of a vine tree pergola I flipped the page of an American poetry read and unexpectedly ran into a brilliant quote that shook my very core.
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the number of the moments that take our breath away"
It makes me wonder how many things are actually measurable in life.
Apart from minutes and dimensions, can we measure feelings?
Apart from lengths and widths of manchettes and lapels can we measure aesthetics, quality, dedication, and passion?
It was also a couple of years ago that I met Mr. Cedric Burnel, young yet experienced, unconventional and inquisitive specialist in made-to-measure services and sartorial advice; a living example that certain qualities are undoubtedly beyond measure. His fervor for his work is reflected in his constant search for trends and the ambition to sustain the image of an influencer himself. His sense for style is depicted in his impeccable outfit combinations with emphasis on detail. His perceptiveness is seen in the successful marriage of deceptively different couture worlds.
Many and complex are the questions that we usually pose about necessities in life.
What do we truly need and what does happiness entail?
What is actually defined as "necessity"?
On the one hand, drinkable water is absolutely vital for survival and on the other hand, caviar-based hydration creams are considered necessary for smooth skin and a radiant complexion. I assume there must be different answers for different people, just as everyone has a personal perspective of life and what this means to them.
How many of those adorable tulle skirts can one girl squeeze into her closet?
Is there a limit to cuteness or rather an acceptable age to wearing a tutu?
Having found no adequate answer so far, I have only managed to unlock some style secrets of these classic, girly, romantic items by trying them on and experimenting at the opening evening of Tutu Shop in Knokke last Friday. Perhaps, something will dawn on me after sharing my observations with you.
My affair with the sphere of art and design dates back to my teenage years. Such a strong bond is highly unlikely to be weakened in time. In fact, it is becoming increasingly tighter by the day. Every trip, every new experience adds up to my personal reflections of images, notes, brushstrokes and evokes feelings, as well as simple or complex thoughts that broaden my perception of human nature. Recently, this explorative force drove me to add two more designer names to my list of discoveries.
I wasn’t sure whether it was the passionate crimson red of the flag-like fluttering silk skirt or the military boots, but as my eyes cascaded down the strict-masked marching figures, I could feel the shiver of a soldier preparing for battle. I supposed the Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2016-17 collection has more to do with female dynamism, rather than with arms in the literal sense of the word, so bearing that in mind I was instantly more at peace with the concept.
I saw her standing at the doorstep of her store and waved at her with excitement, the minute I clumsily rushed out of the car trying to regain balance with my almost eight-month bump. I was late and the cause was nothing but the busy streets of Knokke and the lack of parking spots in the middle of the summer season. The siren figure in the pastel blue dress greeted me with her captivating smile and as I approached her, she exclaimed in a warm voice "It is the most beautiful thing that can happen to you. I have a 21-year-old son and he is my miracle". As she confided in me a few minutes later, she was lucky enough to receive another positive gift in her life, one which according to medical experts, was unlikely and unexplained...
The notion of me sinking in my beige linen Flamant living-room armchair with my feet resting slightly raised on my matching ottoman and every so often sluggishly reaching for the remote to catch the next sitcom, as if it were the most fascinating adventure in one of my expecting days, is merely a product of poor imagination. What did you expect from an actively involved woman like me who constantly seeks to sip every droplet of life?

Dumortierlaan in Knokke has recently been upgraded to a baby shower paradise. Luxury Baby is the newly emerging brand by designer Imka that aims at making you and your newborn feel like royalty. In modern Belgium a few extra amenities, good service and product quality, along with high-end materials are not the exclusive privilege of the blue-blooded, right? For the expecting mother it is pure joy to step into this miniature world of luxury. Let's be honest, you sort of miss that feeling when you have to carry several additional pounds, walk on uncomfortably swollen ankles and instead of your otherwise precious spa weekends have to spend your spare time on delivery breathing classes.

Walking arm-in-arm towards the Mercedes Benz pick-up point in the beating heart of Zoute, my fashion Saturday companion and I were wondering about our destination. The secrecy of the location where Emma’s Pool Party was taking place had already risen much anticipation in the city’s social circles and quite some envy towards the lucky selected few who had received a precious invitation for this exclusive Knokke Fashion Weekend event. The hostess, Belgian blogger Emma Gelaude, did her best to make the suspense worthwhile.
At the meeting point, the smiling well-groomed driver unfolded our personal invitation, confirmed the names on the guest list and kindly opened the door for us. In less than 10 minutes we were brought to the front step of the mystery 70’s villa with the well-maintained luxurious dark thatched roof. “The house belonged to the previous owner of the Casino! My father was very close to the Nellens family” my friend noticed, as she went on to share the details of this special architectural style with me.

“Apart from their infatuation about the Hermes cuff and their world-wide popularity, what else could all of these extraordinary women have in common?”
The question crossed my mind as I was browsing through the photos that popped up on my computer screen, as soon as I formed the search key phrase about the much-desired luxury accessory on my laptop keyboard. These celebs know style, there’s little doubt about that, or at least their stylists know damn right how to enhance their image.
